About

The Beauty Shop is a centerpiece of the Bonnell Building Project, providing a unique opportunity to countless young community members to develop and share their creative talents. It came about because two young people, Dom and Phil Rabalais, wanted to turn one space in the building into a music performance venue. They enlisted volunteers and got financial and equipment donations to renovate an available space into a venue that now not only regularly hosts performances by local and touring musicians but also popular art shows featuring the work of young people and movie showings. The venue is managed by a group of young people.

Touring musicians who have performed at the Beauty Shop include: Poison Control Center, Christopher the Conquered, Zoe Boekbinder, Little Teeth, Mumford's, Feathe, Skye Carrasco, She Swings She Sways, Lipstick Homicide and Netherfriends.
